Back To School Sales!

        The hunt is on!

For new school supplies!

I love this time of year it is beautiful out side.
The list for all the school supplies and deals coming out.
It is the best time of year to find all of those little things that you
have been wanting to get and for cheap at that.

Here is my list Of things I want to get this year.
Keep in Mind I am pretty new still to this home schooling stuff.

I am trying to keep my list small, due to the fact that I know that I am lucky enough to have a husband who fully supports me.
He understands that I am new to this and I will need some time to get this homeschooling shopping list perfected.

I know that there are a lot of sales going on between now and the start of school.
However I am pretty much done for now. I bought  all of the things besides the electric pencil sharpner, chalk boards and chalk.
 At Walmart.

For a total of $60 and boy was I shocked!

The Places I know are Doing Back To School Sales!

Simple Cajun Pasta

I love to cook, Really nothing is better then cooking for my family every night though I love to go out as well.
My Recipe tonight is very simple, and its something that anyone can make in a matter of 30 mins.

I dislike when people say " I don't cook because it takes too much time." Cooking can be very fun and even can help take the stress out of your life.

What you need,

I used 2 boneless skinless chicken breast.(I don't like a lot of meat)
 1 pound of Penne pasta
Sliced Red peppers.( in a jar because it is fast and easy )
Heavy Whipping Cream ( 1pt )
Mrs. Dash original blend
Cajun spices
1 bag of Italian Cheese ( 16 oz bag )

* Cut The Chicken ( what ever amount you want to use ) into
pieces then cook however you normally would cook in the frying pan. ( I use butter but that is just how I am )
* Boil your water for your pasta and boil the pasta as you normally would.
* Once your pasta is boiling start your chicken.
( I use the Mrs. Dash to season the chicken while I cook it. however it is up to you.)

* Once all your Chicken is fully cooked add the peppers
( or anything else you would like, Mushrooms, different colored pepper, tomatoes, onions. )

* Once Everything has been fulled heated pour in your heavy whipping cream.

* Add Cajun spices to taste. I do not measure the amount I use I just add it until it taste good to me. Not much is needed.

* Allow it to simmer for a about 4 minutes

* Then add the Whole bag of shredded cheese, slowly stirring it in and allowing it to melt.

* Once your pasta is done cooking drain it and mix you chicken, cheese , heavy cream mixture into the pot with your drained pasta.

Mix It all together and then pour it into your serving bowl or serve it out of the pot It don't matter.

I normally serve this pasta with Texas toast because to us that is the best combination.
My husband is a pretty picky eater
as are our two children.

This is one meal I know every time my family will eat with out any problem.

Enjoy and feel free to comment and let us know how you liked it.

( I am NOT a pro. Chief I am just a mom trying to cook new and easy meals for my growing family and friends. )

4th of July!

Happy Fourth Of July Everyone!

Back home we use to go see fire works, have a BBQ, go to a fair , or some kind of big event. Sense leaving our home state we have had to find new ways to spend our time.

For our family today was a pretty great day in spite of the fact that my husband once again , as always had to work.
We went to the Fort Leavenworth M.W.R event and we had a blast. All of the games, lots of friends and families all around. Even though we were unable to spend the day with any of our family we had each other and that's what matters.
For us every day is Fourth Of July.

We spend our days teaching our kids about this great country of ours and what makes it so great.

Is shocks me to know that so many children or people for that matter believe that the day is all about fire works and seeing if you can drink yourself into a state of stupidity.

For the first about 20 years after the Declaration of Independence was sign it was not something that was celebration. It wasn't until 1870 that Congress first declared  July 4th as a national holiday.
It was a bill to officially  recognize several holidays including Christmas, further legislation  about national holidays was not passed until 1939 and 1941.

We all need to start teaching our children and even our selves the history of our great country. If we don't share our past with children then it will be long forgotten. Keep the past alive and teach your children about everything that made this country so great.  Help form the future of our country!

Happy 4th of July everyone.

Freedom Of Speech .... For kids

Yesterday was a day like no other....

For a very unexpected reason at that. At what point is it okay to allow your children to speak their mind?

What age do we say yes you can say what you think. ( as long as it comes out respectful , open and honest )

That was my struggle for the past 6 months of my life.

My 8 year old son walked up to me one morning in December 2014 and asked me if it was okay. For him to say what he thinks and feels to someone that he fears. Someone that had been none stop trying to take over his life. ( how he feels )

He struggled with my answer to the question as did I for months of his asking me. If it was time yet that he could speak his mind. Even after he had declared to the world his wishes and wants. Still he felt no one cared or wanted to hear what he had to say.

He asked me what seemed like every day. At what age he was going to be old enough to be able to say what he wants and thinks. That he will not only be able speak his mind but for it to really matter. To those adults who should allow him to have the freedom to say who he does or does not want in his life.

I prayed , spoke to my priest, my husband and then I prayed some more. After months if struggling with the question I sat down and had a talk with my kids. ( 8yrs and 9 yrs old ) We decided that as a family we would allow them to speak their minds. That as long as they did this in a way that was respectful in their eyes. That my husband and I would be respectful of our kids wishes.

Parenting is hard enough with out other people trying to control our kids. We decided that their is no age limit for kids to have an opinion. That their age shouldn't matter as long as our kids aren't harming their selves. That they need to keep an open mind because everyone has an opinion.
I'm proud of my kids especially proud of my son for wanting the freedoms. That he as an American citizen has and has the right to not only know but the right to use.

We try to teach our kids about not only their rights
but about our country and why its so great.

The Begaining .... Where to start Homeschooling

First off  Do Your Home Work! On How To Start or Where To Start

  •  The very first thing we did as a family was to of course register as a Non Accredited Private  School in the state we live in . ( Kansas )
  • Then we wanted to look up the National Standards For Catholic Elementary and Secondary Schools. ( Here is the link for the English down load of the National Standards please email me for the Spanish down load or anything else you might need. )  http://www.catholicschoolstandards.org/the-standards/2014-07-13-13-36-30/download-the-standards
  • Every state is different and has a different set of rules. For some it is very structured and others are very open. To allowing you the freedom to teach your children with little interference from the state.
  • We had to figure out what our resources were as a Catholic Homeschooling / Private Schooling family. ( here are some of the links we found very helpful.  listed below )

                                                   LEGOLAND TOUR!

Our Experience At LegoLand

Going to LegoLand was all around awesome!
We went for the kids thinking it would
Just be a kid thing. We had no idea
Of the amount of information we would come
Out with. Our kids learned so much from the tour.
The excitement in their eyes through out the whole day
Was priceless. I could hardly get any pictures with
My kids or my husband looking at the camera.
He tried so hard to hide how much fun he was
Having along side the kids.
It was well worth the money.

We try every chance we get to do family activities.
With my husbands work schedule it leaves
Us with working around when he works.
We try to plan day trips to local
Places. Luckly we have a huge area that is always
Doing family friendly events.

Easter Fun 2015

Our kids had such a great Easter!  They got to spend.                 time with their Nonna and  Martin.

Their Easter Baskets from their grandparents were awesome. They were so shocked to have gotten such large gifts at dinner.

Baskets from Momma & Daddy

Dying Easter Egg's With Daddy & Momma!

Family Easter Fun

All too often it seemsthat people have forgotten the real reason for Easter. Its not about some large bunny leaving candy
Filled plastic eggs. Its not about a race to see who could get the
Most eggs in their baskets. Its about Jesus , about how he died on the cross for our sins. sins. About how 3 days later he had risen.
From the grave!
I can only hope my kids know the reason behind this great day!

Remember The True Reason For This Day!

   John 3:16

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have.           everlasting life.
